Metered billing turns a meter’s aggregated quantity into a line item on a recurring subscription invoice.

Metered Pricing

Unit pricing multiplies measured quantity by one fixed amount. The configured meter unit controls how that rate is presented. A per-unit value may therefore appear to the buyer as $20 / 1M tokens while calculation still uses the single-unit amount. Volume pricing, where one fixed charge covers a quantity band, is not currently available.

Invoicing Customers for Usage

Attach the price

Add a metered price to a recurring catalog item, select its meter, and set the amount for one unit. An optional cap limits the final usage charge even when measured quantity exceeds it.

Follow the subscription period

Usage aggregates across the same period as the subscription: monthly subscriptions settle monthly, while yearly subscriptions settle yearly. The usage charge joins the rest of that period’s invoice.

Finish a canceled period

A period-end cancellation keeps measuring activity until the paid term expires. Ruba issues the final usage charge at that boundary even though another renewal will not begin. A subscription discount applies to the complete invoice, including metered lines.

Customer Portal

The portal shows the customer an estimated charge for each meter before settlement.
