# Return an Order Payment

A refund changes three things independently: money returned to the buyer, tax reversed with it, and product access that may need to end.
## Calculate the available amount
The largest refund is the order's remaining net amount after earlier refunds and any customer balance applied to the order. Enter the net amount; Ruba calculates and returns the corresponding tax automatically. A full refund returns all remaining tax, while a partial refund prorates it.
Processing and card-network fees from the original transaction remain charged because those providers do not reverse them. A $30 order may therefore return $30 to the buyer while its approximately \$1.60 processing cost stays deducted from your balance.
## Issue it from an order
Navigate to the relevant order and find its **Refunds** area.
Choose **Refund order**, enter the net amount up to the displayed maximum, and select a reason for your records.
For a one-time purchase, decide whether to revoke benefits such as files, keys, or community access. Full refunds select revocation by default.
A refund against a subscription order returns that payment but does not terminate the subscription. [Cancel the subscription](/features/subscriptions/manage) when the relationship and its future access must end; Ruba revokes subscription benefits when the subscription is revoked.
Ruba may refund within 60 days to prevent an expected chargeback, including when a merchant advertises no refunds. Early card-network signals can trigger an automatic refund of a lower-value order and cancellation of its related subscription.
